Think Through Math

If possible, please allow students to get on TTM at home frequently. This program provides students with lessons on the TEKS (4th grade state objectives). It will assess your child and create a pathway in which they can follow to be successful in math. A live tutor is also available 24/7. Students have their login in password in their math journals. www.thinkthroughmath.com

Weekend Homework

Next week we are going full force with Multiplication Fluency! Our goal for 4th grade is to complete 100 multiplication problems from 0-12 in 4 minutes or less. Students are to PRACTICE all multiplication facts this weekend. Some ways to study include: Relfex Math (online), mathdrills.com (worksheets for practice), flash cards, multiplication pyramid etc.

Monday students will be given a pretest and those who do not get 80% or higher will have multiplication homework for the rest of the week to practice for the test on Friday (will be for a grade).

PTA Fundraiser & Open House

Good evening parents,

Tomorrow is Open House, but we are postponing ours for next Thursday October 17 at 6 p.m. We hope that everyone can make it out and that this didn't cause too much of an inconvenience. We will still be selling Chalupa plates tomorrow for the PTA meeting tomorrow in the teachers lounge starting at 4:30, and we are still in need of pretty much everything such as refried beans, plates, napkins, forks, lettuce, tomato, shredded cheese, salsa, sodas, tea, water, chalupa shells, desserts. We will also need help setting up, serving, and cleaning up after the PTA meeting. Please let us know what you can donate and how you can help.

This is the letter that was sent home this weekend with instructions on how to do the Weather Map Project:)

Weather Map Project

 

Parents,

 

Students are to create a weather map to present on Monday, September 22, 2013. They were given a bag of the following materials: a strip of weather symbols, a script and a map of the U.S. Students may choose to use the map of the U.S. and weather symbols or draw their own on a poster board, construction paper, computer paper, etc. Weather maps need to have weather symbols (at least 5 different symbols), a key to show what each symbol represents, a compass rose and their script ready to go. With their script students will become meteorologists and give their peers a weather report! Please take this opportunity to work with your child on this fun project.

Mapa del tiempo

 

Estimados padres,

 

Los estudiantes van a crear un mapa del tiempo para presentar el lunes 22 de septiembre 2013. Cada estudiante recibió los siguientes materiales: símbolos del tiempo, un guion y un mapa de los Estados Unidos. Tendrán la oportunidad de usar los materiales que les di o dibujar su propio mapa y símbolos en papel de  construcción o poster. Los proyectos tienen que incluir por lo menos 5 diferentes símbolos del tiempo, un clave para explicar lo que significa cada símbolo, los direcciones cardinales y el guion listo para presentar. Los estudiantes serán meteorólogos para el día y presentarán su mapa. Favor de tomar esta oportunidad de trabajar con tu hijo(a) en este proyecto divertido.

There was no homework assigned this weekend. However, if you could please preactice and o over rounding with your child that would be great! Students were to take their math journals home to review rounding notes. Just make a list of numbers up to the millions place and decimal numbers, underline a number to round and allow your child an opportunity to practice:)

Also, if your child has computer access at home, please allow him/her to go onto Reflex Math!

Back to School Dance

Hello everyone,

Fourth grade is trying to raise enough money to take the kids to Austin in January or February. As you all know we are having a Back to School dance on September 20 from 3:30 to 5:30. We are asking for your help in promoting the dance with your students. We are also asking for your help in chaperoning the dance. If you can donate just a little bit of your time, we would greatly appreciate it. Let any fourth grade teacher know if you can help or just show up on that day for loads of fun!

First Friday Fundraiser

Parents,
We need volunteers for First Friday Parking this Friday, September 6, 2013 from 4:30-8:30p.m. We are asking that parents sign up for the following shifts:

Please notify us through email or on the blog so that we can add your name to our sign up sheet.
We are going to meet at 4:30pm at both parking lots on St. Marys street. FYI the Cedar entrance will be closed off.


We are also asking for donations such as waters, ice chests, ice and snacks.

Volunteers: Please bring items such as shade, mosquito repellant, sunscreen, lawn chairs, etc. since the afternoons are a scorcher.

Parents and students,

I hope that you are enjoying your summer! Get some rest because we have lots planned this school year.

Ms. Madrid and I will be co-teaching again this year, yay! My role will be math, science, and language teacher. I would like students to prepare for the upcoming school year by practicing their fact fluency. This can be done with the awesome online program the PTA purchased for us, Reflex Math. Instructions on how to log in are on my web links page. If you are unable to get into Reflex Math by all means still continue to practice your multiplication and division facts.
